Despite no firm commitment from Transport Canada, provincial Finance Minister Wes Sheridan is confident the federal government will fund a third electrical cable line between New Brunswick and P.E.I.
Earlier this week, Maritime Electric completed a $6 million repair project on one of two submarine cable transmission lines in the Northumberland Strait. An underwater, pinhole-sized leak of insulating oil was discovered in May, followed by a second land-based leak in June.
