TE SubCom, a TE Connectivity Ltd. Company and an industry pioneer in undersea communications technology, today announced it has successfully completed the first 40G upgrade in an undersea cable system more than 9,500km in length, setting an industry record for the longest 40G implementation.
Using its G4, 40G SLTE technology, TE SubCom increased the existing cable system’s capacity by 22 x 40G. The ultimate capacity utilizing TE SubCom’s 40G product is 42 percent higher than the original design capacity and marks an unprecedented achievement for a trans-Pacific distance.
